Punjab University Admission Criteria for BS Regular Programs

Admission for the BS (4-year) program is based on Basic and Additional Criteria, which may vary by college or department. The basic aggregate is calculated with this formula:

  • Marks earned = one-fourth of Matric marks + FA/F.Sc or equivalent marks + Additional marks (if any)
  • Total marks = one-fourth of Matric total marks + FA/F.Sc or equivalent total marks (plus subject marks if included)

Additional marks include:

  • Hafiz-e-Qur’an (20 marks)
  • Electives (20 marks)
  • Optionals (10 marks)
  • Diplomas (20 marks)
  • Additional electives (10 marks)
  • Additional optionals (5 marks)
  • Combination subjects (10 marks)
  • Specific subject marks (added to the total marks denominator if included)
  • Other categories may add 5-10 marks

The final score is multiplied by 100 for programs with 100% academic weightage or by 75 for those with 75% academic weightage.

Provisional applicants can use marks from their Intermediate Part-I examination for merit calculation. For late applicants, two marks are deducted for each year late, up to a maximum of five years.

Candidates claiming Hafiz-e-Qur’an status must furnish a certificate from a recognized institution and are subject to an interview by the Departmental Admission Committee.
